Sara Kelly has been interested in the arts since childhood. She majored in Art and Gold and Silversmithing in college, followed by 10 years as a self employed craftsperson, creating fabric sculptures (Fantasy Creatures) and cloisonné enamel jewelry. She also has worked as a pattern designer, creating storybook characters such as Peter Rabbit, Curious George, Raggedy Anne and Andy into dolls and toys. During this time Sara designed “toys” for the Guggenheim Museum, taking subjects from famous paintings and making them into 3 dimensional artistically accurate fabric toys.

She formed Over the Moon Graphics and Design in 2002 and has created various items for clients, from painting over 100 seed packets, to custom designed logos, printed items and websites. She also works for John Imhof as a legal secretary and A&M Printers in graphics and pre-press.
Sara has a graphic style to her painting, using heavily saturated colors in an illustrative manner. Inspired by posters and book illustrations from the early 1900’s, she has developed her personal style of art based on her love of arts and crafts and historical imagery. She has painted and produced calendars and cards, and custom designed jewelry for sale at Over the Moon Beads for the last few years.
She has been involved in Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival since 2002, creating many of the logos and working with the chamber as a board member and volunteer. She has supported the festival both physically and financially for years. Sara has been a resident of the Cambridge area for almost 20 years.
The Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce is honored that Sara agreed to create our 11th annual poster art this year. Contact the Chamber for posters, 677-0887 or by e-mail cambridgechamber@gmail.com. |
